The Lake District Tourist Website is designed for travelers to easily find quick information about the area, whether they are interested in walks, hotels, or cafes. The main purpose of the site is to provide a short and concise guide for visitors, helping them navigate and enjoy The Lake District.

Features

Existing Features

  • Navigation Bar: Provides consistent navigation throughout the website, with responsive design for different screen sizes.
  • Landing Page Hero Image: Features an attractive hero image with a zoom effect to draw in viewers.
  • Information Section: Includes an image and additional information about The Lake District.
  • Hikes, Cafe, and Hotel Pages: Dedicated pages with details on hikes, cafes, and hotels, complete with images, descriptions, and maps for easy navigation.
  • Footer: Includes social media links, contact information, and a sign-up form for users to receive updates and news.

Future Features

  • Trails Section: Add information on multiple trails for each hike to help users find alternative routes or plan for changing weather conditions.
  • Restaurants Section: Include information on restaurants for a complete guide to dining options in the area.

Design

Imagery

The hero image was chosen to highlight the beauty of The Lake District while keeping it visually appealing. Consistent imagery across the pages helps provide a cohesive experience for users.

Colour Scheme

A crisp color palette inspired by The Colour Palette Company was used to keep the design simple and vibrant.

Typography

Google Fonts was used to select Playfair Display, which adds a classic feel to the website while maintaining readability.
